Description
This lot features two vintage wooden spirit levels from the Stanley Handyman series, likely dating to the mid-20th century. The first item is a torpedo level, model No. H1295, constructed with a hardwood body and tapered ends. It features a single horizontal vial protected by a metal top plate secured with two screws. The side of the wood body is stamped with the Stanley Handyman logo and model number. The second item is a carpenter’s spirit level with a rectangular wooden body. This level was designed with three circular vial ports, including one central horizontal vial and two end plumb vials, each finished with a metal rim. A faint oval Handyman script logo is stamped onto the face of the wood. The larger level also contains visible green and white paint residue on its surface.
Condition report:
Both levels show significant signs of age and heavy use. The torpedo level exhibits surface grime and oxidation on the metal top plate. The carpenter\'s level is heavily weathered with scratches, abrasions, and paint splatters. One of the plumb vial assemblies is entirely missing, leaving an open circular hole in the wood. The remaining vials and their glass covers are present but appear cloudy and dirty. The accuracy of these tools has not been tested.
