Description
This Belgian-manufactured semi-automatic shotgun is chambered for 16-gauge 2 3/4 inch shells and features the iconic humpback receiver design synonymous with the Browning Auto-5. The firearm is equipped with a standard length barrel featuring a matted top rib for glare reduction and a single brass bead front sight. The metal surfaces exhibit a traditional blued finish, while the furniture consists of a checkered walnut pistol grip stock and a matching forend with longitudinal finger grooves. Key markings include the manufacturer’s name and location on the left side of the receiver as FABRIQUE NATIONALE D’ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE and the barrel address BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS Mo. over the steel and chambering designation ** SPECIAL STEEL – 16 GAUGE – SHELLS 2 3/4. The serial number 84206 is prominently stamped on the underside of the receiver forward of the loading port and is matched on the bolt. Various Belgian proof marks are present, including the lion over PV and the ELG in a crown within an oval. The shotgun is fitted with sling swivels and a factory hard rubber buttplate embossed with BROWNING AUTOMATIC and the FN monogram. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in good overall condition for its age. The blued finish shows honest wear and thinning, particularly on the high edges of the receiver and the barrel\'s underside. There are scattered light scratches and handling marks on the metal surfaces, but no significant pitting is observed. The walnut stock and forend are in good condition with original finish remaining, showing various small dings, scratches, and impressions from field use, but no visible cracks. The checkering remains well-defined. The hard rubber buttplate exhibits significant oxidation and weathering consistent with age. The bore is not visible in the provided images for assessment.
