Description
This vintage pneumatic air rifle is a Benjamin Franklin Model 312 manufactured by the Benjamin Air Rifle Company. It features a multi-pump pneumatic action with a bolt-action breech and is chambered for .22 caliber pellets. The rifle is constructed with a solid wood stock and a grooved wooden pump handle (forearm) that serves as the lever to compress air. The barrel and receiver assembly are made of brass with a darkened, aged patina finish. The left side of the receiver is marked with “BENJAMIN FRANKLIN” and “MADE IN U.S.A.” below the serial number H255929. The right side of the receiver is stamped with “CAL .22 MODEL 312” and “PUSH HAMMER TO RELEASE SAFETY”. The rifle is equipped with a front blade sight and a rear adjustable notch sight. No box or manual is included with this item.
Condition report:
The air rifle is in good vintage condition with an attractive aged appearance. The brass barrel and receiver show a heavy, dark patina consistent with age and material, with some scattered areas of finish loss and minor surface oxidation. The wooden stock and pump handle exhibit typical wear from use, including various nicks, light scratches, and small impressions, though the wood remains structurally sound. The mechanical firing function and air retention capabilities have not been tested.
