Description
This lot consists of two hardcover books regarding the history and material culture of the American West. The first volume is Wexler, Bruce. The Wild, Wild West of Louis L’Amour: The Illustrated Guide to Cowboys, Indians, Gunslingers, Outlaws and Texas Rangers. Philadelphia: Running Press, 2005. Quarto. Publisher’s pictorial boards with a matching dust jacket. The text provides a comprehensive illustrated guide to frontier life, including color photographs of saddles, firearms, and artifacts, as well as historical portraits such as Sitting Bull. ISBN 0-7624-2357-9. Printed in Hong Kong.
The second volume is Kauffman, Henry J. The Pennsylvania-Kentucky Rifle. New York: Bonanza Books, circa 1960. Hardcover with yellow pictorial dust jacket. This reference work provides a technical and historical study of the American long rifle, including black and white plates of firearms, components, and regional gunsmithing characteristics. The volume includes technical descriptions of plates by Carl Pippert and Herman Dean.
Condition report:
Both volumes are in good condition with original dust jackets. The Wexler volume shows minor shelf wear to the jacket edges and corners. The Kauffman volume shows age-related yellowing to the dust jacket, which is currently housed in a clear plastic protective sleeve. Both books bear small white auction labels numbered 13052 on the front covers. The bindings are tight, and the interior pages of both books appear clean and free of significant markings.
