Description
This collection features nine total magazines for the AR-15 and M16 rifle platforms, consisting of one standard 5.56mm magazine and eight sub-caliber conversion inserts. The standard magazine is a US military contract 20-round unit for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge, finished in a matte gray Parkerizing. Key markings on the floorplate include a square logo containing an S and the verbatim text M16/M16A1 CAL. 5.56MM, UNIVERSAL INDS. DIV., SIMMONDS PREC. PROD. INC., and WEST HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. The eight conversion magazines are finished in black and chambered for .22 Long Rifle, designed for use with specialized sub-caliber training kits such as the M261 rimfire adapter. These conversion units function as inserts within a standard magazine shell or directly within the receiver to facilitate feeding rimfire ammunition. All magazines show surface wear consistent with typical handling and storage.
Condition report:
The magazines exhibit a good overall condition. The Simmonds Precision 5.56mm magazine retains a significant amount of its gray Parkerized finish with scattered scuffs, minor scratches, and some light wear on the floorplate. The eight .22 LR conversion magazines show a matte black finish with typical handling marks, some finish loss at the contact points, and minor surface oxidation in small areas. The springs and followers for all units appear to be in functional order, though they have not been tested in a firearm.
