Description
This lot features a collection of 34 rounds of 9mm Luger ammunition contained in a vintage two-piece cardboard box from the Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The original tan paper labels identify the load as 9 M-M Luger Smokeless Express Hollow Point and specify 50 Central Fire Cartridges. Key markings on the top label include the red UMC logo and the cursive Remington trademark, with company details listed as Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. Ammunition and Firearms and Union Metallic Cartridge Works. Side labels designate the cartridges as Specially adapted for 9 M/M Luger Automatic and loaded with special smokeless powder. The bottom of the box bears a printed Guarantee and a purple ink date stamp reading Aug 31 1932. The contents are a mixed assortment including 16 standing cartridges with headstamps marked REM-UMC 9M/M LUGER and R-P 9MM LUGER, as well as 17 cartridges with exposed projectiles comprising 13 copper-jacketed and 4 unjacketed gray lead hollow point tips. One additional cartridge is laid horizontally across the top, and a piece of white cloth wadding is present.
Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box shows moderate age-related wear, including scuffing to the red textured finish and fraying at the edges and corners. The labels exhibit yellowing and light staining but remain legible. The cartridges vary in condition; some vintage brass cases show heavy tarnish and oxidation, while lead projectiles show a gray oxide bloom. Primers appear intact, and the ammunition appears live. This lot is sold as a collectible item and we have not function-tested this ammunition.
