Description
This Colt Model 1895 New Army & Navy double-action revolver is chambered in .38 caliber and features a 6-inch barrel and a six-shot swing-out cylinder. The metalwork displays a worn blued finish that has significantly thinned, transitioning to a gray-brown patina with visible surface oxidation and light pitting on the frame and cylinder surfaces. The trigger and several screw heads retain notable heat-blued accents. The revolver is fitted with smooth, cream-colored synthetic grips that show minor handling marks but remain intact. Key markings include the top of the barrel which is stamped COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. above patent dates AUG. 5. 1884 NOV. 6. 88. MAR. 5. 95. and the left side of the barrel specifying COLT. D.A. 38. The serial number 88225 is stamped on the butt of the frame, and assembly number 76 appears on the crane and within the frame window. Fixed sights consist of a front blade and a notched rear top strap. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair to good overall condition. The blued finish shows heavy honest wear, thinning throughout and exhibiting a mottled gray-brown patina. Areas of surface oxidation and light pitting are present on the cylinder and frame. The bore was not inspected internally, but the muzzle displays wear consistent with the exterior. The double-action mechanism appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The synthetic grips are well-fitted with some light scratches and age-related discoloration. Markings remain clear and legible.
