Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1126:
Description
This lot consists of two boxes containing a total of 40 rounds of Western Super-X Power-Point ammunition chambered in .284 Winchester. Each cartridge is loaded with a 125-grain soft point bullet designed for small to medium game, with factory specifications indicating a muzzle velocity of 3200 feet per second and a muzzle energy of 2840 foot pounds. The yellow and red cardboard packaging identifies the manufacturer as the Winchester-Western Division of Olin, with production locations in New Haven, Connecticut, and East Alton, Illinois. Key markings include the Western script logo, Super-X, and Power-Point. The end flaps are marked 284 WINCHESTER 125 GR. SOFT PT. BULLET with the catalog number 2841. The reverse of the box specifies that the ammunition uses non-corrosive primers and smokeless powder to insure long barrel life. Both boxes are currently sealed in clear plastic shrink wrap.
Condition report:
Both boxes exhibit moderate shelf wear consistent with age, including edge fraying, corner scuffs, and minor surface impressions. One box features a handwritten marking in black ink on the end flap. The clear plastic shrink wrap is intact but shows light surface dust. Because the boxes are sealed, the internal condition of the individual cartridges has not been visually inspected, though they appear to be original, live factory-loaded ammunition.
