Description
This lot consists of 15 rounds of centerfire rifle cartridges housed in a partial original cardboard box. The ammunition is chambered in .257 Roberts and utilizes 117-grain soft point Lubaloy projectiles. The box features a blue and yellow design with the manufacturer logo in red script. Primary markings on the front panel include Western Center Fire Cartridges, Super-X, 257 Roberts, 117 Grain Soft Point Lubaloy Bullet, and Non-Corrosive Priming—Smokeless Powder. The reverse side identifies the Western Cartridge Company, East Alton, Ill., U.S.A., as a Division of Olin Industries, Inc. and states Made in U. S. A. The text on the back also notes suitability for Winchester Models 70 and 54, as well as Remington rifles. The cartridges feature mixed headstamps, including REM-UMC 257 ROBT and SUPER SPEED 257 ROBERTS. The brass cases show tarnish and surface oxidation throughout. The projectiles are copper-jacketed with exposed lead soft point tips.
Condition report:
The cardboard box shows moderate condition wear, including significant edge and corner fraying, surface scuffing, and handwritten black ink notations on the front and side panels. The 15 cartridges are tarnished and oxidized on the brass surfaces. The lead projectile tips exhibit minor surface oxidation. The primers are unspent and appear live.
