Description

This is a precision-machined Creedmoor style vernier tang sight, designed for use on long-range target and sporting rifles. The instrument is constructed from blued steel and features a tall, vertical staff mounted on a hinged folding base. The staff is engraved with a numerical scale ranging from 0 to 100 in increments of 10, with the markings highlighted in yellow pigment for improved legibility. A sliding carriage for the eyepiece is adjusted via a long, threaded lead screw with a knurled knob located at the top of the staff. The carriage incorporates a vernier scale to allow for fine elevation adjustments. The eyepiece consists of a round, concave-faced aperture cup with a central peephole. The mounting base includes two holes for attachment screws and features a windage adjustment screw located at the base of the staff. The underside of the mounting base is hand-engraved with an arrow, likely to indicate the direction of the muzzle for installation. There are no manufacturer names or brand markings visible on the piece.

Condition report:

The sight is in very good functional condition. The blued finish remains largely intact, showing only minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age and standard use. All mechanical components, including the lead screw, windage adjustment, and folding hinge, are complete and appear to be in working order. The engraved numerical and vernier scales are crisp and legible.
