Description
A hand-painted wooden Canada goose decoy produced by Stony Point Decoys of Oak Hall, Virginia. The underside of the base features stamped or wood-burned lettering that reads HORNICK BROS, STONY POINT DECOYS, OAK HALL. VIRGINIA. The item is hand-signed in script Raymond E. Hornick and dated 1978. The decoy is carved from wood and features an upright, curved neck and inset amber-colored eyes. The paint application depicts a black head and neck with a white cheek patch, while the body shows stylized brown and cream feathering. The base has a natural wood finish and is equipped with four circular green felt pads.
Condition report:
The decoy is in good overall condition with minor surface scuffs, small areas of paint loss, and light wear consistent with age, primarily visible on the back and tail sections.
