Description
This lot features a vintage cardboard box containing a group of 40 rounds of Winchester .22 Long Rifle H.P. Super Speed Staynless ammunition. The cartridges are comprised of nickel-colored casings and copper-plated hollow-point bullets. The red and tan packaging displays prominent manufacturer markings, identifying the contents as Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn., U. S. A. Verbatim markings on the primary face of the box include Winchester Trade Mark Made in U. S. A., .22 Long Rifle H.P., 50 Rim Fire, and Super W Speed. The side of the box is marked W Staynless Made in U. S. A. above the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. address and a production code of K 2207 R. Each cartridge base features the raised H headstamp characteristic of Winchester rimfire production. The box is partially full and includes a piece of crumpled clear plastic used as filler to stabilize the 40 rounds within the original container.
Condition report:
The original cardboard box shows signs of heavy age and handling, including creasing, staining, and frayed edges with tearing present on the end flaps. The cartridges are in good condition for their age, though the nickel-colored casings show minor oxidation and darkening. The copper-plated hollow-point bullets remain intact with a natural aged patina. The ammunition appears live, and the primers show no signs of strike marks.
