Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1213:
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 70 rounds of .41 Short Rimfire ammunition produced for the Navy Arms Co. The ammunition features copper casings and lead round-nose bullets. The lot includes an original partial cardboard box and a clear plastic bag containing loose rounds. The box is marked with .41 SHORT RIM-FIRE CARTRIDGES and 50 CTGES. and indicates that the contents were Made in Italy. A graphic on the box illustrates a Remington Model 95 over-under derringer pistol. Verbatim markings on the box include the Navy Arms Co. logo featuring the letters N, A, and C surrounding a central anchor. The headstamps on the cartridge bases are transcribed as a stylized letter A. This modern production ammunition was intended to provide a functional supply for vintage firearms chambered in this obsolete caliber.
Condition report:
The copper cases show a dull patina with surface tarnish and some scattered dark spots consistent with age and storage. The lead round-nose bullets exhibit a significant degree of white oxidation, known as lead bloom, across the lot. The original cardboard box shows moderate shelf wear, including rubbed edges, light surface staining, and some minor fraying at the corners. The ammunition appears to be live and well-preserved overall despite the surface oxidation.
