Description

This is a Ruger M77 bolt-action rifle chambered for the .257 Roberts Improved cartridge. The firearm features a blued steel barrel fitted with a ramped front blade sight and a folding leaf rear sight. The receiver is of the tang-safety variety and is currently equipped with two-piece Weaver-style scope bases. It is mounted in a checkered walnut stock with a pistol grip, sling swivel studs, and a black rubber Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. Key markings include the model designation RUGER M77 and the serial number 70-47179 stamped on the left side of the receiver. Barrel markings specify the caliber as .257 ROBERTS IMP on the left side and STURM, RUGER & CO. INC., SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A. along the top, accompanied by the Ruger proof mark. This rifle is an early production model consistent with the 70-prefix serial number range. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The blued steel finish shows visible surface oxidation and scattered light pitting across the barrel and receiver, particularly surrounding the stamped markings and at the muzzle. The bore has not been inspected. The bolt-action appears to function correctly, though the rifle has not been function-tested. The walnut stock exhibits various handling marks, minor dings, and small scratches consistent with use in the field, while the checkering remains well-defined. The Pachmayr recoil pad is intact but shows signs of age-related hardening.
