Description
This Remington Model 12 is a pump-action rifle chambered in .22 Remington Special, featuring a classic octagonal barrel and an under-barrel tubular magazine. The firearm is constructed with a solid steel receiver and barrel that retain a thinning blued finish transitioning to a mottled brown patina with areas of light surface oxidation. The furniture consists of a ribbed walnut pump handle and a straight-grip walnut buttstock, ending in a crescent-shaped steel buttplate. Sighting is provided by a standard blade front sight and a barrel-mounted Marble’s adjustable buckhorn rear sight. Key markings on the top of the barrel flat include the manufacturer address REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. along with patent dates ranging from JAN. 5, 1909 to APR. 16, 1912 and the caliber designation .22 REM. SPECIAL. The left side of the receiver is stamped MODEL 12 above the serial number 782477, while the buttplate is embossed with a circular REMINGTON UMC trademark. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show significant thinning of the original bluing, with the barrel and receiver presenting a mottled brown patina and light scattered surface oxidation and pitting. The walnut stocks exhibit moderate wear with various dings, scratches, and impressions consistent with age and field use, though they remain structurally sound. The crescent buttplate exhibits oxidation and light surface rust. The action operates smoothly when cycled manually. The bore was not inspected, but the overall exterior condition is consistent with a well-used vintage firearm.
