Gun Collectors Dream Auction #86 Collector Auction
Lot 1262:
Description
This lot consists of 71 rounds of .25 Stevens rimfire ammunition, featuring copper-toned cases and lead round-nose projectiles. The cartridges are primarily identified by a stylized U headstamp, which denotes manufacture by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company, later Remington-UMC. This caliber was a staple for many early 20th-century rimfire rifles and handguns. The cartridges exhibit a dark patina and significant grey oxidation on the lead bullets, consistent with their age. The rounds are loose and not accompanied by original packaging. Verbatim markings include the U headstamp found on the case rims.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in aged, uncleaned condition. The metal cases show a dark mottled patina with areas of surface oxidation. The lead projectiles are covered in a heavy grey oxidation. While the cartridges appear to be live, no functional testing has been performed, and they are offered as collectible items with no guarantee of performance.
