Description
This lot consists of two boxes containing a total of 100 rounds of Winchester Cowboy Action Loads ammunition chambered in .44-40 Winchester (.44 WCF). These cartridges are specifically designed for use in lever-action rifles and single-action revolvers, featuring 225-grain cast lead flat-nose bullets. The ammunition was developed in cooperation with the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) to provide reliable performance in competitive cowboy action shooting events. Key markings on the packaging include the Winchester logo, 50 CARTRIDGES, .44 WCF, CENTRAL FIRE, and CAST LEAD. The end panels are marked WINCHESTER, 44-40 WIN., 225 GRAIN CAST LEAD, and include the product code CB4440W. The brass cartridge casings feature headstamps marked WINCHESTER 44-40 WIN. The reverse side of the packaging notes that these cartridges were originally designed for early American rifles and revolvers and soon gained the reputation for being superior to all others. The ammunition is housed in teal-colored cardboard boxes featuring classic western-themed artwork.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good, clean condition with no visible signs of corrosion or damage to the brass cases or lead bullets. The primers appear undisturbed, and the cartridges are presented as live ammunition. The teal-colored cardboard boxes show moderate shelf wear, including corner dings, scuffing, and some surface loss or peeling, particularly on the front of the lower box where some of the printing has been removed. One box is open but contains its full complement of cartridges.
