Description
This Savage Model 99 is a classic lever-action rifle chambered in .300 Savage, featuring the signature internal rotary magazine with a brass round-counting window on the left side of the receiver. The rifle is equipped with a 24 inch barrel, factory iron sights consisting of a front blade and a rear elevator leaf, and a Bushnell ScopeChief IV-M 2.5X-8X variable power optic. The metal surfaces show a blued finish on the barrel and lever, while the receiver has transitioned to a mottled grey patina. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut stock and forend, exhibiting various handling marks, light scratches, and dings consistent with field use. The rifle is fitted with a serrated metal buttplate and a brown leather sling. Verification of markings reveals the top of the barrel is stamped SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A., with the right side marked HI-PRESSURE STEEL – PROOF TESTED. The left side of the barrel is marked .300 SAVAGE with an SP proof mark, and the serial number 671201 is clearly stamped on the underside of the receiver. A green Crosshair Outdoor Gear soft-sided carrying case is included with the lot. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel and lever retain approximately 60 to 70 percent of their original blued finish, with thinning at the muzzle and high points. The receiver has lost most of its original finish and presents a grey-mottled patina with some areas of light thinning. The checkered walnut stock and forend are in good condition, showing honest field wear including scattered dings and light surface scratches, but no major cracks are visible. The serrated metal buttplate shows light surface oxidation. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the lever action appears to function smoothly, although the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The scope optics appear clear.
