Description
This Winchester Model 94 lever-action carbine is chambered in the relatively uncommon .25-35 W.C.F. cartridge and features a standard 20-inch round barrel with a full-length tubular magazine. The firearm is constructed with a blued steel finish on the barrel and receiver, paired with a straight-grip walnut stock and matching forearm. The stock is fitted with a crescent steel buttplate and shows numerous dings, scratches, and finish loss commensurate with field use. The carbine is equipped with a front blade sight and a rear ladder sight. Key markings include the model designation on the upper tang, which reads MODEL 94 / WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.& FGN., and the serial number 956213 stamped on the underside of the receiver. Barrel markings specify MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED AUGUST 21. 1894. along with —NICKEL STEEL BARREL— ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER —.25-35 W.C.F. and an oval WP proof mark. The rear sight is marked MARBLE’S GLADSTONE MICH. U.S.A. The left side of the receiver retains the stud for a saddle ring, although the ring itself is currently missing. We have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish shows significant thinning and wear, having transitioned to a gray-brown patina across much of the receiver. There are visible patches of surface oxidation and moderate pitting on both sides of the receiver and the lever. The barrel and magazine tube retain a higher percentage of bluing but show scattered light surface oxidation. The walnut stock and forearm are in good structural condition with no visible cracks, though they exhibit a high degree of handling marks, dings, and scratches. The action appears to function smoothly when cycled manually. The saddle ring is missing from its receiver stud.
