Description
This lot comprises 160 rounds of .22 Hornet centerfire ammunition distributed among seven vintage cardboard boxes from multiple American manufacturers. The collection includes a variety of projectile types, primarily 45 grain mushroom and soft point bullets, along with a selection of inert dummy cartridges. Participating manufacturers include Remington Arms Company, Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Western Cartridge Company, and Savage Arms Corporation. Specific packaging items include Remington Kleanbore Hi-Speed Mushroom, Winchester Super-Speed, Western Super-X with Lubaloy bullets, and Savage Mushroom bullet boxes. One Remington box is marked with a red Dummy Cartridges sticker and contains inert rounds distinguished by blackened case bodies with drilled holes and copper-jacketed bullets. The live rounds feature standard brass casings with visible headstamps including REM-UMC 22 HORNET and W-W SUPER 22 HORNET. These cartridges were designed for use in small-game rifles chambered for the .22 Hornet caliber. The ammunition is sold as vintage collectible items.
Condition report:
The seven cardboard boxes are in fair to poor condition, showing extensive shelf wear, edge fraying, paper loss, and tape repairs. The brass cartridge cases exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnish, oxidation, and scattered light corrosion. Lead and copper-jacketed projectiles show age-consistent oxidation. The dummy cartridges appear to have been professionally deactivated by drilling holes through the case walls. The ammunition has not been function-tested and is intended for display or collecting purposes.
