Description
This Smith & Wesson Model 442 Airweight is a double-action-only revolver chambered in .38 Special, designed for concealed carry with its internal hammer and lightweight construction. The firearm features a 1.88-inch carbon steel barrel and a 5-shot carbon steel cylinder housed in an aluminum alloy frame with a black matte finish. It is equipped with black textured Hogue synthetic grips with finger grooves for improved handling and fixed sights consisting of a ramp front and integral trench rear. Key markings include the model designation MOD. 442 and the serial number CAA5889 inside the crane, with the serial number repeated on the base of the grip frame. The left side of the barrel is marked SMITH & WESSON, while the right side is marked .38 S. & W. SPL. The right side of the frame displays the Smith & Wesson trademark logo, the script Airweight designation, and the four-line address: MADE IN U.S.A. / MARCAS REGISTRADAS / SMITH & WESSON / SPRINGFIELD, MASS. The action appears to function correctly, and the revolver is presented on a clear acrylic display stand. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in good used condition. The black matte finish shows minor surface wear, including some thinning on high edges and small scratches visible on the top strap and backstrap. The cylinder exhibits a faint but consistent turn line. The bore is bright and clean with sharp rifling. The Hogue synthetic grips are well-preserved with no significant tears or smoothing of the texture. The action is smooth and appears to function correctly.
