Sold for: $80
Description
This collection consists of 274 rounds of Western brand rimfire ammunition contained within six vintage cardboard boxes. The lot includes one box of Western Xpert .22 Long Rifle greased cartridges, one box of Western Super-X .22 Short hollow point wax coated cartridges, one box of Western Super-X Clay Target .22 Long Rifle shot cartridges, one box of Western Super-X .22 Long Rifle shot wax coated cartridges, and two boxes of Western .22 Long Rifle cartridges featuring smokeless lubricated lead bullets. Prominent box markings include Western, Xpert, Super-X, Clay Target, 22 Long Rifle, and 22 Short (H.P.), along with product codes XP22LR, SX22SH, and SX22LRS. Inspection of the contents reveals a variety of bullet types including copper-plated hollow points and plain lead, with headstamps displaying either a simple embossed diamond or the Super-X logo with the word SUPER inside a diamond-shaped frame over a large stylized X. One box is observed to contain a mixture of ammunition types and paper wadding.
Condition report:
The cardboard packaging shows moderate to heavy shelf wear consistent with age, including edge scuffing, staining, and surface abrasions; one orange and buff Western .22 Long Rifle box is missing a portion of its top flap. The ammunition is in mixed condition, with several rounds showing significant lead oxidation in the form of white crusting on the bullets and some verdigris or corrosion on the brass and copper-colored casings. The contents are sold as vintage collectibles; we have not function-tested this ammunition and make no warranties regarding its reliability or safety.
