Sold for: $875
Description
This Winchester Model 64 is a lever-action sporting rifle chambered for the .30 W.C.F. cartridge, more commonly known as .30-30 Winchester. The rifle features a 24-inch round barrel with a blued finish and a two-thirds length magazine tube. The blued steel receiver is fitted with a side-mounted Lyman aperture peep sight, while the rear barrel sight has been removed and replaced with a dovetail filler blank. The firearm is equipped with a smooth walnut pistol-grip stock and a semi-beavertail forend. It is completed with a checkered steel buttplate. Verbatim markings on the left side of the barrel include MADE IN NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA – WINCHESTER – TRADE MARK – MODEL 64 – 30 W.C.F. – and WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL. The top of the barrel and the receiver ring both bear the Winchester proof mark consisting of a W and P within a circle. The serial number 1668552 is stamped on the underside of the receiver. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a fair amount of the original blued finish, which shows thinning and wear on high points, the underside of the receiver, and the barrel. There are scattered light scratches and small areas of surface oxidation present. The walnut stock and forend are in good condition with various minor dings, scratches, and impressions consistent with field use, but no visible cracks. The checkered steel buttplate exhibits significant surface oxidation and light rust. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, though it has not been live-fire tested. The bore was not inspected.
