Description
This is a W.R. Case and Sons fixed blade hunting knife, identified as the Arapaho Hunter, pattern R503 SSP. The knife features a high-polish stainless steel blade with a trailing point profile. The handle is constructed with smooth rosewood scales secured to a full tang by two brass pins. It includes an integrated metal finger guard and a lanyard hole at the pommel. The accompanying original brown leather sheath features a stamped basketweave pattern, a snap-down retaining strap, and an embossed Case logo in an oval. The obverse tang is marked CASE XX with a lightning bolt SS and eight dots, indicating a production year of 1982, with USA below. The reverse tang is marked R503 over SSP.

Condition report:
The knife is in excellent overall condition. The blade retains its original factory high-polish finish with only very light surface scuffs and handling marks. The edge appears to be the factory original and does not show significant signs of sharpening wear. The rosewood handle scales are well-fitted and free of cracks or chips. The metal finger guard shows minor surface tarnish and light scratches. The leather sheath is structurally sound with all stitching present, showing moderate surface scuffing and storage wear consistent with age.
