Description
This lot consists of a total of 52 rounds of vintage .30-40 Krag centerfire rifle ammunition in three original retail boxes. The first is a blue and yellow Peters High Velocity box, number 3045, containing 180 grain Inner-Belted hollow point cartridges with brass casings and headstamps marked PETERS .30 U.S.G. The second container is a green and yellow Remington Express Core-Lokt box, product code R30402, containing 180 grain Pointed Soft Point cartridges in black plastic trays with headstamps marked R – P 30-40 KRAG. The final item is a green and yellow Remington High Velocity box, product code R30401, which holds a partial count of 180 grain Core-Lokt soft point cartridges in a white styrofoam tray with headstamps also marked R – P 30-40 KRAG. This ammunition was manufactured for use in rifles chambered for the .30-40 Krag, also known as the .30 Army. The cartridges feature standard primers and rimmed brass cases typical of the mid-20th century commercial market.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears in overall good vintage condition. The brass casings show some light surface oxidation and a natural darkened patina. The lead and jacketed projectile tips exhibit minor oxidation consistent with age. All rounds appear live and the primers are undisturbed; however, as vintage ammunition, these have not been function tested. The cardboard packaging shows moderate shelf wear including scuffing, edge fraying, and minor tearing. The Remington High Velocity box is missing a portion of its internal tray and is only partially filled.
