Description
This lot consists of 40 rounds of .222 Remington caliber centerfire ammunition housed in two vintage factory boxes. The first container is a Remington Kleanbore Hi-Speed box originally designed for 50-grain soft point bullets; it contains a variety of cartridges with mixed headstamps including REM-UMC 222 REM, PETERS 222 REM, and SUPER-SPEED 222 REM. The second container is a Remington High Velocity box labeled for 50-grain Power-Lokt Hollow Point projectiles, identified by product code R222R3. While the labeling indicates hollow point ammunition, the cartridges contained within are soft point rounds featuring R-P 222 REM headstamps. Both boxes are constructed of cardboard and display period-correct graphics and technical specifications. Prominent markings include Remington KLEANBORE 222 REMINGTON Hi-Speed 50 GRAIN SOFT POINT BULLET and High Velocity 20 CENTERFIRE CARTRIDGES 222 REMINGTON 50 GR. POWER-LOKT HOLLOW PT R222R3.
Condition report:
The ammunition boxes exhibit significant shelf wear consistent with age, including frayed corners, surface scuffing, and minor staining. The Kleanbore box shows more pronounced deterioration with minor paper loss and structural softening. The cartridge brass displays age-appropriate tarnish and scattered small spots of oxidation. The exposed lead tips of the soft point projectiles show varying degrees of white oxidation and residue. All primers are seated and intact; the ammunition appears live and is sold for collectibility as the stability of the powder and primers has not been tested.
