Description
The Remington Model Nylon 66 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, recognized for its pioneering use of a Mohawk Brown Zytel synthetic stock. This rifle features a 19.5-inch blued barrel and a stamped steel receiver cover, fed by a tubular magazine located in the buttstock. The stock is designed with checkered grip and forend sections, white diamond-shaped inlays on the forend, and a black grip cap and buttplate with white spacers. The firearm is equipped with a ramped front sight and an adjustable rear leaf sight. Key markings include the barrel stamping Remington 22 LONG RIFLE ONLY and the serial number A2291167 on the left side of the receiver cover. The right side of the barrel near the receiver displays an oval REP proof mark and the date code PD. The buttplate is molded with the manufacturer’s name, 22 LONG RIFLE ONLY, patent numbers 3,027,611, 3,023,527, and DES. 183,433, alongside REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrel and receiver cover shows light surface wear, minor scratches, and some thinning at the muzzle and edges, with faint freckling present in several areas. The Mohawk Brown synthetic stock is in good condition, exhibiting scattered superficial scratches and handling marks, though the checkering remains distinct. The action appears to cycle correctly, but the rifle has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The bore was not inspected.
