Description
This lot comprises a group of 43 rounds of vintage rifle ammunition presented in three original period boxes. The collection features a partial box from The Peters Cartridge Co. for .30-30 Smokeless cartridges with 170-grain soft point bullets. The box displays markings such as SMOKELESS .30-30 S. P. BULLET and 170 Grains Soft Point Bullet, and a seal from THE PETERS CARTRIDGE CO.; eight rounds are present with headstamps transcribed as PETERS 30-30. Included is a full box from Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Company containing 21 total rounds of .30-30 Smokeless ammunition with 160-grain metal cased bullets. Markings on this box include FOR WINCHESTER, MARLIN AND SAVAGE RIFLES, REMINGTON UMC, .30-30 SMOKELESS 20 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES, and 160 GRS. BULLET METAL CASED, with headstamps marked REM-UMC 30-30. The third box is a mixed assortment of 14 rounds including Remington-UMC .30-30 and Western .38-55 caliber cartridges, with visible headstamps such as WESTERN 38-55. The ammunition appears live and is housed in weathered cardboard packaging typical for its age. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The cardboard ammunition boxes exhibit significant age-related wear, including surface staining, corner fraying, and structural weakening; one box is reinforced with plastic wrap. The cartridges show a natural aged patina with varying levels of tarnish and oxidation on the brass cases. Projectiles show typical oxidation consistent with lead exposure over time. The ammunition appears to be in original, unfired condition.
