Description
This is a Colt Police Positive Special double-action revolver chambered in .32-20 W.C.F. featuring a 6-inch barrel. Developed as an evolution of the Police Positive to accommodate longer and more powerful cartridges, this example features a blued steel finish and fixed sights consisting of a front blade and a rear notch integrated into the top strap. The metal surfaces exhibit significant wear, including thinning of the original bluing, surface oxidation, and areas of light pitting. The firearm is fitted with checkered walnut grips that incorporate silver-colored Colt medallions. Visible markings include the left side of the barrel stamped POLICE POSITIVE SPECIAL 32-20 W.C.F. and the top of the barrel containing the manufacturer address and patent information: COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. PATD. AUG. 5, 1884. JUNE 5, 1900. JULY 4, 1905. The left side of the frame features the rampant Colt logo. The serial number 328596 is stamped on the frame crane and matching serial 328596 is found inside the frame. The action appears to function correctly, although we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. A black nylon zippered soft case is included with the lot. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in fair to good condition, showing significant finish wear consistent with service use. The bluing has thinned throughout, transitioning to a grey and brown patina in several areas, with visible surface oxidation and light pitting on the barrel and frame. The wood grips show moderate wear to the checkering and scattered dings but remain intact. The bore is not clearly visible in provided imagery, but the cylinder faces show typical residue from use. The mechanical action cycles in both single and double action modes.
