Description
This lot consists of a collection of 179 rounds of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition marketed by Sears, Roebuck and Co. under the Sta-Klean brand. The ammunition is housed in four original cardboard boxes, which include one box of No. 302 Xtra-Range .22 Long Rifle with cadmium-plated bullets, one box of No. 320 .22 Long Rifle with lead-lubricated bullets, and two boxes of No. 330 .22 Short with lead-lubricated bullets. The packaging for the Xtra-Range cartridges is finished in a light blue and red color scheme, while the others feature a dark blue and orange motif. Prominent box markings include Sta-Klean, Sears, Roebuck and Co., and specific load designations. The No. 302 box includes a verbatim warning stating that due to increased pressure and velocity, they should be used only in a high grade gun in first class condition. The cadmium-plated rounds are stamped with an XR headstamp on copper-washed cases, while the lead-lubricated rounds feature brass cases. One of the .22 Short boxes retains its original internal cotton packing material.
Condition report:
The original cardboard packaging displays moderate age-related wear, including edge fraying, minor tearing at the end flaps, and surface staining. The cadmium-plated .22 Long Rifle rounds show significant white oxidation on the bullets and scattered verdigris on the copper-washed cases. The lead-lubricated rounds in both .22 Long Rifle and .22 Short configurations appear in better condition, with clean brass casings and only light surface oxidation on the lead projectiles. The ammunition is offered for its historical and collectible value, and no guarantee is made regarding its mechanical function or safety if fired.
