Description
This Savage Model 99 is a lever-action rifle chambered in .250-3000 Savage and features the manufacturer’s signature rotary magazine with a visible brass round counter. The rifle is equipped with a blued steel barrel, while the receiver and lever exhibit significant finish thinning and wear, showing a mottled grey-silver patina with areas of light surface oxidation. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut pistol grip stock and matching forearm, both displaying handling marks, scratches, and finish wear consistent with field use. The rifle is fitted with a Weaver K4 telescopic sight on a Buehler base marked Oakland, CAL. Iron sights include a brass bead front blade and a filler blank in the rear sight dovetail. Notable barrel markings include SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A., HI-PRESSURE STEEL – PROOF TESTED, and .250-3000 SAVAGE with an SP proof mark. The serial number 558264 is stamped on the underside of the receiver. The rifle is finished with a serrated metal buttplate and includes sling swivels. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel retains much of its original blued finish with scattered light scratches. The receiver and lever show prominent finish loss and high edge wear, transitioning to a mottled grey patina with areas of surface oxidation and very light pitting. The walnut stock and forearm are structurally sound with numerous small dings and scratches commensurate with age. The checkering shows moderate wear but remains defined. The action appears to cycle smoothly, though the rifle has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The telescopic sight has clear optics and a crosshair reticle with a center dot.
