This lot consists of forty rounds of Winchester John Wayne The Duke commemorative centerfire rifle ammunition chambered in .32-40 Winchester. Each cartridge is assembled with a 165-grain soft point (S.P.) projectile featuring a copper jacket and exposed lead tip, seated in a nickel-plated case. This ammunition was produced as a limited commemorative edition honoring the legendary actor John Wayne, commonly known as The Duke. The ammunition is divided between two original twenty-round boxes featuring an illustrated portrait of John Wayne and an American flag. Technical specifications include a bullet weight of 165 grains and a soft point design optimized for use in lever-action rifles. Verbatim markings on the packaging include Winchester, W3240JW, 32-40 Winchester 165 gr. S.P., and 20 Rifle Cartridges, along with a facsimile signature of John Wayne. The individual cartridge headstamps are clearly stamped with W, 32-40 Win, and Duke.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in very good condition with the nickel-plated cases showing a bright and clean finish free from significant corrosion, oxidation, or tarnishing. The bullets are well-seated and the copper jackets and lead tips appear clean and well-preserved. The two original cardboard boxes show moderate shelf wear consistent with age, including minor scuffing, edge wear, and small creases or tears at the corner flaps. The ammunition appears to be factory-loaded and live.
