Lot 182:
Bausch & Lomb Balvar 24 Variable Power Target Rifle Scope 6-24x
Sold for: $475
Description
A Bausch & Lomb Balvar 24 variable magnification target rifle scope, featuring a power range from 6x to 24x. This precision optic is designed for long-range target and varmint shooting, utilizing a specialized external adjustment system in place of internal turrets. The scope is housed in a gloss black finished tube and comes equipped with external windage and elevation adjustment mounts. The rear mount features a heavy coil spring designed to manage recoil and consistently return the scope to its zero position. The objective end includes a focus and parallax adjustment ring with distance markings for 50 yards, 100 yards, 200 yards, and infinity. The magnification ring near the eyepiece is graduated from 6 to 24. The reticle consists of a fine crosshair. Prominent markings include the model designation BALvar 24 near the ocular lens, and the manufacturer information for Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. along with patent information is visible on the main tube. The adjustment rings are marked with numerical graduations from 0 to 20 and directional indicators for up, down, right, and left.
Condition report:
The scope is in very good overall condition, retaining a high percentage of its original gloss black finish. Minor surface scratches and small nicks are visible on the main tube and adjustment turrets, consistent with light use. The optics are clear, providing a sharp and bright image through the full magnification range. The fine crosshair reticle is intact and well-defined. All mechanical features, including the magnification ring, parallax adjustment, and external adjustment mounts, appear to function correctly with smooth movement. The recoil spring on the rear mount remains under strong tension. We have not function-tested this optic on a firearm.
