Description

A single large vintage fixed-blade knife featuring a carbon steel blade with a clip-point profile. The knife is constructed with a hardwood handle, possibly oak, secured to the tang with two brass pins. The handle assembly includes a metal ferrule bolster and a matching metal pommel cap. No manufacturer marks, tang stamps, or hallmarks are visible on the blade or handle components. The oversized scale and utilitarian form are characteristic of 20th-century American trade knives, such as those used in the broom-making or butchery industries.
Overall Length: 21 inches
Blade Length: 15 inches.

Condition report:

This knife is in well-used vintage condition. The carbon steel blade exhibits a heavy grey patina, significant surface oxidation, and areas of pitting. Coarse sharpening scratches are present along the cutting edge. The wooden handle shows age-related drying and a prominent longitudinal crack running along the top spine. The metal ferrule and pommel cap show wear and oxidation consistent with age.
