Description
This lot consists of a full, two-piece cardboard box containing 50 rounds of .41 Short Rimfire ammunition produced for Navy Arms. The box features vibrant red and blue graphics, including a central illustration of an engraved Remington double derringer that bears the verbatim marking E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. on its barrel. Visible markings on the front of the box identify the contents as .41 SHORT RIM-FIRE CARTRIDGES and specify 50 CTGES. The Navy Arms logo in the upper left corner depicts an anchor with crossed rifles flanked by the letters N and A over CO. The sides of the box are marked 50 CARTRIDGES .41 SHORT RIM-FIRE, and the reverse provides descriptive text detailing the precision-built and non-corrosive qualities of these Navy Arms cartridges. Internally, the 50 rounds are arranged in five rows of ten and feature copper-colored cases with lead round-nose bullets. Each cartridge base is stamped with a distinct raised chevron or V headstamp. These cartridges were manufactured specifically for use in all arms chambered for .41 Short Rimfire, such as the classic Remington over-under derringer.
Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box is in good overall condition, showing light age-related wear including minor edge scuffing, light corner compression, and some scattered surface staining, while the graphics remain bright and legible. The ammunition appears well-preserved, with the copper-colored cases showing minimal tarnish and the lead bullets exhibiting light, natural oxidation consistent with age. All 50 rounds appear to be live and in good physical condition.
