This lot consists of a collection of 50 Winchester .22 Long Shot rimfire cartridges in their original two-piece cardboard box. The cartridges are loaded with soft shot and were manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. in New Haven, Connecticut. The packaging features a green top label and orange side labels with a large red W logo on both end panels. Verbatim markings on the top label include 50 WINCHESTER TRADE MARK .22 LONG SHOT CARTRIDGES LOADED WITH SOFT SHOT and Trade Mark Registered in U. S. Pat. Office. Manufactured by the WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. New Haven, Conn., U. S. A. with numerical codes 19 and 7-6. The side panels are marked .22 LONG SHOT CARTRIDGES. Winchester Make. and include text stating These cartridges are manufactured and loaded by the WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. The benefit of our great experience and careful supervision is given. The end labels are marked .22 Long SHOT. Reg. in U. S. Pat. Off. The rimfire cartridges feature the raised H headstamp characteristic of period Winchester ammunition. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box exhibits significant age-related wear including frayed edges, scuffed surfaces, and splitting at the corners and seams. The labels remain mostly legible despite some fading and minor loss. The cartridges show heavy oxidation, verdigris, and surface corrosion across the cases and lead shot. The primer surfaces exhibit varying degrees of pitting and discoloration. This ammunition is sold as a historical collectible and has not been function-tested.
