Description
This lot features a brand new sequential commemorative set of two Winchester Model 94 lever-action repeating firearms chambered in .30-30 Winchester. The set consists of one rifle and one carbine, both equipped with blued octagonal barrels measuring 26 inches and 20 inches respectively. The receivers are finished in high-polish bluing and feature ornate scroll engravings. Verbatim markings on the firearms include the script Buffalo Bill on the left side of the receivers and W.F. Cody Chief of Scouts on the upper tangs. Barrel markings include Buffalo Bill Commemorative on the right flat, the caliber designation 30-30, and Winchester Made in U.S.A. followed by a trademark registration mark. The serial numbers are WC101206 on the rifle and WC101207 on the carbine, forming a consecutive pair. Both pieces are accented with nickel-plated hammers, triggers, forend caps, and buttplates, with the carbine further distinguished by a saddle ring on the left side of the receiver. The furniture consists of straight-grip walnut stocks inlaid with a silver-toned commemorative medallion on the right side of the buttstock inscribed Colonel William F. Buffalo Bill Cody 1846-1917. This collection is complete with original pictorial boxes, certificates of authenticity, warranty cards, owner’s manuals, and the original outer shipping carton from Witte Hardware Corp. of St. Louis, Missouri, addressed to Western Auto in Malden, Missouri. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
Both firearms are in excellent, brand-new-in-box condition, appearing to have never been fired. The blued finish on the barrels and receivers is approximately 100 percent with no visible wear, scratches, or pitting. The nickel-plated components remain bright and untarnished. The walnut stocks are pristine with high-gloss finish and no dings or handling marks. The bores are bright with sharp, clean rifling. The actions appear to function smoothly, although we have not function-tested the firearms with live ammunition. The pictorial boxes show minor shelf wear and some light staining consistent with age and storage. The outer shipping carton is intact but shows more significant wear, including some tearing and tape residue.
