Description
This lot consists of a vintage two-piece cardboard box containing 50 rounds of .380 Colt Auto Hammerless ammunition manufactured by the Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The cartridges feature brass casings with copper-colored primers and lead soft-point bullets. The red-wrapped box features a tan top label printed in blue and red ink, identifying the contents as .380 COLT AUTO. HAMMERLESS SMOKELESS 50 CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES and includes the Remington UMC trade mark alongside a graphic depicting a single cartridge. Side labels specify the ammunition is Specially adapted for .380 Colt Hammerless, Savage and other Automatic firearms and further state that These Smokeless Powder Cartridges are expressly adapted to the .380 Automatic Colt. Verbatim headstamps on the cartridges are marked REM-UMC .380 C.A.P.H. indicating they were produced specifically for the Colt Automatic Pistol Hammerless.
Condition report:
The box exhibits significant age-related shelf wear, including fraying at the edges and corners with several tears and losses to the printed side labels. The red paper wrapping shows color fading and rubbing. The ammunition shows tarnish on the brass cases and moderate white oxidation on the lead soft-point bullets. The cartridges appear to be live and intact, though they are sold as collectible items only.
