Description
This collection consists of 59 rounds of .38-55 Winchester centerfire ammunition housed in four vintage boxes, featuring products from both Remington and Western. The lot includes two boxes of Remington Kleanbore cartridges, loaded with 255-grain soft point bullets and bearing headstamps transcribed as REM-UMC 38-55. Also included are two Western Lubaloy boxes, which contain soft point bullets with distinctive copper jackets and headstamps marked WESTERN 38-55. The total quantity of 59 rounds is distributed across a combination of complete and partial period-correct boxes. The cardboard packaging shows clear manufacturer and caliber markings, though the containers exhibit varying degrees of shelf wear and age-related damage. The cartridges themselves are well-preserved for a collection of this type, showing typical surface characteristics associated with vintage ammunition.
Condition report:
The cartridge cases exhibit age-related tarnish and minor surface oxidation on the brass and bullet tips, which is common for ammunition of this era. The lead bullet tips and copper jackets show expected darkening and surface wear. The cardboard boxes demonstrate moderate to heavy shelf wear, including edge fraying, corner crushing, and surface staining. The lower-right Western box shows a significant tear and loss of cardboard on the side and end flap. The rounds appear to be live factory loads, but as they are vintage, they are sold as collector items with no guarantee of ballistic performance.
