Description

This German-made drilling is a triple-barrel combination firearm featuring side-by-side 16-gauge shotgun barrels positioned over a single 9.3x72R rifled barrel. The top matted rib is inscribed with the markings E.W. MANN and BONN / RH., identifying the retailer, while the design is consistent with manufacturing by Kettner. The barrel flats and water table feature prominent German Imperial proof marks, including the crown over N Nitro proof, crown over U final inspection, crown over S smoothbore, and crown over W choke mark. Specific bore markings include a circled 16 on the shotgun barrels and the 118/35 gauge-based measurement on the rifle barrel, which corresponds to the 9.3mm caliber. The serial number 661 is stamped on the underside of the barrels and the receiver water table, and the number 153 appears on the heel of the metal buttplate. The firearm utilizes dual external hammers and double triggers, with a tang-mounted selector to engage the rifled barrel. The checkered walnut stock includes a cheekpiece, a rounded pistol grip, and a hinged brass cartridge trap in the toe with four individual storage holes. The receiver and sideplates are decorated with fine scroll engraving, and the firearm is fitted with sling swivels, a bead front sight, and a folding rear sight leaf. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The barrels retain a thinned bluing that has transitioned to a dark brown patina with areas of surface oxidation and scattered light pitting. The engraved receiver and sideplates show a mottled gray and brown appearance with visible oxidation throughout. The walnut stock is solid but displays numerous dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with field use; the checkering is worn but remains distinct. The cartridge trap lid functions correctly. The action appears to function properly, though we have not function-tested or test-fired this firearm.
