Description

This lot comprises five vintage two-piece cardboard ammunition boxes manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co., containing a combined total of 94 rounds of centerfire rifle ammunition. The collection features one box of .30 Remington Autoloading Soft Point cartridges with 170-grain bullets, labeled for Remington Autoloading and Stevens rifles, which displays a date code of 5-16 indicating May 1916 production. The remaining four boxes contain .30 Winchester Smokeless Model 1894 cartridges with 160-grain metal patched soft point bullets intended for use in Winchester, Marlin, and Savage rifles. All boxes bear the signature Winchester orange label with black printed text and round illustrations. Verbatim markings include the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. name and signature on the top panels and manufacturer details on the side panels, which also indicate an original capacity of 20 rounds per box. Verified cartridge headstamps show markings for W.R.A. CO. .30 REM. and W.R.A. CO. .30 W.C.F. with the verified count for the collection being 94 rounds. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.

Condition report:

The five cardboard boxes exhibit significant age-related wear, including surface staining, edge scuffing, and minor paper losses to the labels, though the printing remains largely legible. The ammunition within shows a varied aged patina with visible tarnish and light oxidation on both the brass casings and the bullet surfaces consistent with century-old storage. Primers appear original and unfired, and the cartridges appear to be in live condition.
