Description
This lot features 100 rounds of .32 S&W caliber centerfire ammunition contained in two period-correct two-piece boxes. The first box is manufactured by The Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Company and features a light blue-green label indicating 50 black powder cartridges with 88-grain bullets. Key markings on this box label specify the UMC Bridgeport Works in Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A., with headstamps transcribed verbatim as REM-UMC and .32 S & W. The second box is from The Union Metallic Cartridge Co. with a green label for 50 .32 caliber S&W cartridges loaded with 10 grains of powder and 88-grain bullets. This label identifies the manufacturer as The Union Metallic Cartridge Co. of Bridgeport, Conn., and the headstamps are marked U.M.C. 32 S&W. Both boxes retain portions of their original side and bottom guarantee labels, which include instructions and recommendations for use in Smith & Wesson and other first-class arms. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The ammunition boxes are in fair condition for their age, exhibiting typical staining, shelf wear, and minor losses to the paper labels. The top Remington-UMC box shows moderate edge wear and staining on the blue-green label, while the bottom UMC box shows heavier staining and significant wear to the exterior cardboard surfaces. The cartridges themselves display aged brass patinas and visible oxidation on the lead projectiles. The side seals are broken on both boxes to allow for inspection. The ammunition appears to be live and intact, though it is sold strictly as a collectible and functionality for firing is not guaranteed.
