Description
This lot consists of a full box of 50 rounds of Remington Kleanbore shot cartridges designed for use in rifles and handguns chambered for .44 Winchester, Marlin, and Remington, which corresponds to the .44-40 Winchester caliber. These central fire smokeless cartridges feature a distinctive wooden plug at the case mouth, as indicated by the wooden end labeling on the packaging. Loaded with No. 8 chilled shot, the cartridges are housed in a two-piece green cardboard box featuring the prominent Remington-UMC dogbone logo. Verbatim markings on the lid include .44 WIN., MAR. & REM. SHOT, 50 CENTRAL FIRE SMOKELESS SHOT CARTRIDGES, CHILLED SHOT, KLEANBORE, WOODEN END, and REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. Side panels emphasize the ammunition is NON-CORROSIVE and NON-EROSIVE, while the end panels specify No. 8 CHILLED SHOT. The individual brass cartridge cases are headstamped REM-UMC 44 WCF. Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box is in fair to good condition, showing significant wear along the edges, frayed corners, and a small tear on the right side of the lid. The green paper label remains largely intact with clear text and graphics. The 50 cartridges appear to be in good vintage condition with a natural aged patina on the brass cases and wooden plugs. No significant corrosion or oxidation is visible on the brass components. The ammunition is believed to be live and in its original factory configuration.
