Description
This lot comprises 434 rounds of vintage .22 caliber rimfire ammunition contained within ten original yellow cardboard boxes from Winchester and the Western Cartridge Co. The collection includes three boxes of Winchester Super-Speed ammunition, consisting of one box of .22 Short (catalog SS22S) and two boxes of .22 Long Rifle (catalog SS22LR). The Western Cartridge Co. offerings include five boxes of Super-X ammunition, featuring one box of .22 Long Rifle (catalog SX22LR), one box of .22 Long Rifle Hollow Point (catalog SX22LRH), one box of .22 Short Hollow Point (catalog SX22SH), and two boxes of .22 Long Rifle No. 12 Shot (catalog SX22LRS). Additionally, there are two boxes of Western Xpert .22 Long Rifle, with one designated as standard velocity (catalog XP22LR) and one as standard (catalog XP22LR). Prominent markings on the packaging include the manufacturers’ logos and specific caliber designations such as Rim Fire Cartridges and Long Rifle. Individual cartridges feature headstamps with either a raised letter H or the text SUPER X contained within a diamond shape. The rounds consist of lead projectiles seated in brass cases.
Condition report:
The vintage cardboard boxes exhibit typical age-related wear, including corner fraying, edge rubbing, and minor surface soiling consistent with long-term storage. The internal cartridges remain in live condition but show expected signs of age, including oxidation on the lead bullets and varied levels of tarnish on the brass cases.
