Description
This Winchester Model 88 is a lever-action rifle chambered in .284 Winchester, featuring a 22 inch barrel. The rifle is constructed with a blued steel finish on both the barrel and receiver, providing a classic and durable appearance. The furniture consists of a one-piece checkered walnut stock with a pistol grip, fitted with an aftermarket Pachmayr White Line rubber recoil pad and integrated sling swivels. The sighting arrangement includes a hooded ramp front sight and a folding adjustable rear leaf sight, while the receiver is fitted with a mounted scope base for optical sights. Verbatim markings on the barrel specify WINCHESTER -TRADE MARK- MADE IN U.S.A. – WIN. PROOF STEEL – MODEL 88 – CAL .284 WIN. and the serial number 144065 A is stamped on the left side of the receiver. Included with the firearm is one detachable box magazine and a tan fabric soft-side carrying case with brown leather-like accents. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition, retaining approximately 90% of its original factory blued finish with light thinning at the muzzle and minor wear on the high edges of the receiver. The walnut stock remains attractive and structurally sound, exhibiting scattered small dings and superficial handling scratches consistent with field use. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling and shows no evidence of corrosion or pitting. The lever action functions smoothly, and the bolt locks securely. The Pachmayr recoil pad shows typical age but remains pliable and intact. The included magazine and carrying case are in good, serviceable condition.
