Description
This lot features 50 rounds of Winchester .38 Smith & Wesson centerfire ammunition contained in an original two-piece cardboard box. These cartridges are configured with 145 grain lead bullets. The green paper label provides comprehensive technical specifications, transcribing as .38 SMITH & WESSON, 145 GRAIN LEAD BULLETS, and identifies the manufacturer as WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U. S. A. The label further notes that these cartridges are adapted to .38 S. & W., Harrington and Richardson, Hopkins and Allen and other arms. The side of the box displays a prominent red W logo and the product code K3871T, along with the text MADE IN U. S. A. Additional labels in Spanish are present on the side and bottom, indicating the rounds were prepared and inspected for export markets. The individual brass casings bear the verbatim headstamp W.R.A. CO. .38 S. & W. and the cartridges are arranged in an alternating bullet-up and head-up orientation within the original internal dividers.
Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box is in fair condition, showing significant age-related wear including edge fraying, surface staining, and minor tearing to the labels. The ammunition itself is in aged condition. The brass cases exhibit tarnish and some surface oxidation. The 145 grain lead bullets show heavy white oxidation, commonly referred to as lead bloom. The primers appear intact, though the cartridges have not been tested for functionality and are sold as historical collectibles.
