Description
This lot consists of a partial box containing 12 original rounds of Winchester Repeating Arms Co. .30-06 Springfield ammunition, specifically labeled as .30-220 Caliber Gov’t Model 1906. These smokeless cartridges are loaded with 220-grain metal patched soft point bullets. The ammunition is presented in its original two-piece cardboard box featuring orange paper labels. Prominent markings on the top label include .30-220 Caliber Gov’t Model 1906 Soft Point, the red W trade mark, and text stating 220 Gr. Metal Patched Soft Point Bullet. The label also indicates the cartridges are adapted to U.S. Magazine Rifle Model 1903, and Winchester Rifle Model 1895. Side labeling identifies the contents as .30-220 Caliber Government Model 1906, Soft Point Smokeless Cartridges Winchester Make, Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, New Haven, Conn., U. Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box shows moderate age-related wear, including surface staining, edge fraying, and some structural softening. The orange paper labels remain largely intact and legible, though they exhibit some light fading and minor loss at the edges. The interior cardboard divider is present and remains in stable condition. The 12 cartridges feature a dark, aged patina across the brass cases. The lead soft point bullet tips show heavy oxidation and darkening consistent with long-term storage. The ammunition appears to be live but is sold as a collectible item only; we have not tested the functional viability or safety of these cartridges.
