Description
This lot comprises a collection of 383 rounds of Federal Hi-Power .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition, housed in eight original cardboard boxes. The ammunition includes two distinct projectile types: copper-plated bullets and lead round-nose bullets. Verbatim markings on the packaging include Federal Hi-Power, 50 Rim Fire Cartridges, and .22 Long Rifle. Internal examination reveals cartridges with two different headstamps, including a stylized Federal F on the copper-plated rounds and HP on the lead rounds. The boxes feature a classic red and white graphic design characteristic of mid-20th-century production. Based on the provided inventory of 383 rounds, some of the eight boxes are partially filled, as the original total capacity for this number of boxes would be 400 rounds. This lot represents a noteworthy grouping of vintage rimfire ammunition from a major American manufacturer.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show age-related wear, including surface staining, corner scuffing, and minor tears to the edges and flaps. The ammunition condition is variable; the copper-plated rounds appear well-preserved with minimal tarnish. However, the lead round-nose ammunition exhibits significant white lead oxide accumulation on the projectiles and instances of green verdigris on the brass cases. The cartridges are sold as collectable items, and we have not function-tested this ammunition.
