Description
This is a single Colt Fourth Model Derringer, a commemorative single-shot pistol chambered in .22 caliber short. The barrel features a high-polish black finish with gold-filled engravings on the left side reading – FORT McPHERSON – 1863 – CENTENNIAL – 1963, and – COLT – on the top flat. Additional markings on the side of the barrel include 22 CAL. SHORT and COLTS P.F.A. MFG. CO. INC. HFD. CT. U.S.A. The frame features a polished nickel-plated finish and is marked with the serial number 216 M P on the left side. The pistol is equipped with cream-colored synthetic birdshead grips, a blued hammer with a checkered spur, and a blued trigger. It is housed in a wooden presentation case with a yellow-orange velvet-lined interior; the lid features gold lettering that matches the barrel’s commemorative inscription and a circular Colt logo. Included in the set is a matching commemorative bronze medallion for the PANORAMA of FORT McPHERSON pageant held in July 1963, also numbered 216, and two clear acrylic display stands. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 98% or more of its original black and nickel finishes with minimal signs of handling wear. The gold-fill engraving remains sharp and bright. The cream-colored synthetic grips are clean and free of cracks. The bore is bright with well-defined rifling. The action appears to function correctly, and the barrel lock-up is tight. The wooden case shows minor storage scuffs to the exterior, while the interior lining remains clean and intact.
