Description
A Wards Western Field Model 600A ERI semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12 gauge shells of 2 3/4-inch or shorter length. This firearm features a blued steel finish on the barrel and receiver, with a polished bolt and a barrel equipped with a ventilated rib, a single front bead sight, and a fixed FULL choke. The receiver is decorated on both sides with stamped scrollwork and hunting scenes depicting bird dogs and ducks in flight. Prominent markings on the barrel include WARDS WESTERN FIELD-MADE IN U.S.A. followed by patent numbers 2,645,873, 2,675,638, 2,780,881, and 2,719,375, along with 12GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS and FULL. The receiver is marked 600A ERI WARDS WESTERN FIELD and bears the serial number 01633V. The furniture consists of a walnut-finished wood stock and forend featuring pressed diamond-pattern checkering for a secure grip. The stock is fitted with a red White Line Pachmayr Gun Works recoil pad. The action appears to function correctly, although the firearm has not been function-tested or live-fire tested. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish is in good overall condition, showing typical thinning on the edges of the receiver and light surface wear on the barrel. The wood stock and forend exhibit minor handling marks, light scratches, and small dings consistent with field use, while the pressed checkering remains clear and distinct. The action cycles smoothly when operated by hand. The red Pachmayr recoil pad shows signs of aging and minor hardening but remains well-attached. The bore was not inspected.
